About Coogee
Coogee is one of Sydney’s oldest beachside suburbs and has the last remaining women’s and children’s ocean bath in Australia. You can walk from Bondi on a spectacular coastal path or take a bus from the city centre to Coogee, where you’ll enjoy white sands, delicious food and gorgeous ocean views.
With a buzzy bar and restaurant scene, the beachside neighbourhood in Sydney’s east has a typical Aussie beach vibe. A patrolled beach makes for great swimming under the supervision of surf lifesavers. Two ocean baths offer calming waters.
Wylie’s Baths is a few hundred metres south of Coogee Beach, and McIvers Baths, Australia’s last remaining women's and children's ocean bath, is perched on the headland between Coogee Beach and Wylie’s Baths.
Besides paddling in Coogee’s sparkling waters or relaxing on its fine sands, Coogee is also where you can start, or finish, the Bondi to Coogee Coastal Walk, a 6 km picturesque pathway.
With glittering sea views, it’s a beautiful scenic walk that lends itself to a picnic or a long lunch at the end; perhaps lobster rolls from the Coogee Pavilion or a beer at the Coogee Bay Hotel.
Less than 2 km to the north is the sheltered bay of Clovelly, well-known as a good snorkelling location. Inland about 2 km you'll find Randwick and the art deco grandeur of the heritage-listed Ritz Cinema, and the University of New South Wales.
